Does anyone know with absolute certainty if the meals on our airline are halal?
Stewards on UZB airways always seem very confused when confronted with this question, and tend to eventually say "yes halal" with great degree of uncertainty in their speech. Please advise.

I don't know with certainty, but I highly doubt it, due to the following:
Someone I know flew from New York to New Delhi on Uzb. Havo yullari. Since she only eats halal food, she asked for a vegetarian meal. When they brought the meal, it had some chicken in it. My acquaintance said: "I asked for a vegetarian meal". The stewardess simply took the chicken away!
This was about 3 years ago, but wouldn't count on things having changed :)

I doubt on that. Few years ago they used to order food from Indians (for the flights between UK and India). I do not think that Indians (catering service) cook halal food. But they should have a vegetarian food, because they carry so many indians, their needs should also be taken care of (theoritically). But, AFAIK, the passenger should note that (that he wants a vegetarian food) when he buys or books his ticket. Otherwise crew (stuardesses) could refuse his demand (if he asks for vegeter-n food after taking off), citing that they did not know about it and there is no vegetarian food left.
So, do not forget to order vegetarian food when you book your ticket (if you donna eat something in the plane).
