Bush said Saturday that and he and Pope Benedict XVI discussed the pontiff's deep worries that Christians in would not be embraced by the Muslim majority. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070609/ap_on_re_eu/bush

Very ugliness in his foreign policy of the Pope poped-up again after his remarks regarding Islam last year. Those lands were home to first Christians and they live shoulder to shoulder with Moslems for a thousands years, and never the question of Christians worries arose like nowadays.
Hundreds are dying in Iraq and Palestine, at least he needs to to do some action towards human beings if not Christians.
After those gloomy remarks Moslems will re-think the real face and thoughts of Crusaders.

P.S. Only Islam treats them as people of the book, nothing similar could be found in Torah or Bible, one more proves that ISLAM for GLOBAL and FOREVER.

Someone, explain to me this. Islam considers Christians people of the book, but at the same time Christians eat pork which is haram, believe in crucifixion which is not acceptable in Islam, believes Chris is son of God. So how can we fit these two different things into one another?

Same God, Allah swt sent them and us all those three books...later on Torah and Bible were corrupted. That's why we call them people of the book.

But how does it make our attitude towards them different than towards people off the book?

pls excuse my interference...
Islam considers Christians and Jews people of the book while they eat pork and believe in crucifixion. How is that?
Islam made it clear to Muslims that people of the book have gone astray and their leaders have changed the books that were revealed to their messengers. So it's their problem not ours. Your cousin still your cousin no matter what he did to his father's property.

But how does it make our attitude towards them different than towards people off the book?
People of the book - those people received messages from Allah swt...and they went astray corrupting meaning and chapters of the books.
People off the book - they invented all their scriptures and shaped their own gods.

Attitude:
1. Moslem has a right to marry from the people of the book but not from kafirs.
2. We need to treat and tolerate those off the book since they were created by Allah swt. We are all creatures of Allah swt. In brief, moslem should treat all human beings equally and with respect.
Sura 76
9. (Ular ayturlar): "Bizlar sizlarni faqat Alloh "yuzi" uchun taomlantirurmiz. Sizlardan (bu ish uchun) biror mukofot va minnatdorchilik kutmasmiz.
10. Bizlar Rabbimiz (tomoni)dan bo'ladigan, (azobdan yuzlar) tirishib, burishib qoluvchi bir Kundan qo'rqurmiz".
