9:00 am -- Get up

9:15 am – Friendly brawl with Tatiana Akbarovna while picking what tie to wear to the office

9:30 am – Cars are waiting to pick IKA up and go to the office. Friendly brawl continues. Tatiana Akbarovna calls Gulnara to consult on what tie to pick up for IKA for a meeting with Pervez Musharraff

10:00 am – IKA has breakfast while in a car. The breakfast menu: two scrambled eggs and O’q Boylik cereal (produced in Karakalpakstan from cotton seeds). Tatiana Akbarovna calls up to scold IKA for picking up light green tie (green tie doesn’t go with a light gray suit, she claims)

10:30am – IKA drives through empty Tashkent (because all cars are stopped to create a corridor for IKA’s cars) and becomes angry that at that late hour of a day no one is on the streets (this is the reason Uzbekistan is such a poor country – everyone sleeps until noon – yet, everyone blames poor Gulnara, he thinks, and suddenly feels sorry for his little daughter)

11:00am – IKA arrives at the office. He feels terribly tired. Of course, an hour drive in a Mercedes will make anyone sleepy. IKA shuts in at his office and lies down sprawling on a sofa. He takes his nap.

2:00 pm – A phone call wakes IKA up. Tatiana Akbarovna still thinks that IKA has no taste for ties. He switches off his phone, looks at his watch – well, it’s 2, he decides, time for siesta.

5:00 pm – IKA’s dream about how he cheerfully swims in a pool with his friend Volodya Putin is interrupted by IKA’s nameless aide (the aide will be fired within a week anyway) who shakily explains to IKA that he’s about to miss his meeting with General Musharaff. IKA swears audibly, asks for a cup of green tea and tightens his tie.

6:00 pm – Meeting with Musharaff. Musharaff speaks funny English. IKA suddenly feel urge to lie down and take a nap. He looks at his watch and – oh, it has been whole hour since he woke up, he decided. IKA Blackberry goes off while Musharaff shows off his new medals. IKA checks his blackberry, hoping that he got an e-mail from his grandson. Alas, it’s Tatiana Akbarovna. Message says: “Next time I’ll pick up ties for you! P.S. buy bread on your way home”. IKA sighs.

9:00 pm – Musharaff finally finishes his army days stories. IKA badly wants to sleep. The thought that he will have to buy a loaf of bread on his way home tires IKA.

10:00 pm – IKA on his way home decides to lie Tatiana Akbarovna that the grocery shop was closed and he was not able to buy bread. The thought soothes his (he hates doing shopping, even if it’s only a loaf of bread…)

11:00 pm – Home. Tatiana Akbarovna’s friendly brawl becomes not-so-friendly after she finds out IKA didn’t bring bread. IKA is really upset. All he wants to do is sleep.

11:30 pm – IKA lies down on his bed, cracks his knuckles and before falling asleep a thought occurs to him: to make Uzbekistan a rich country, I have to adopt a decree that will force Uzbeks to get up at 4 am – they must work more… at this sweet thought, he drifts away to his dream world… where he can happily swim in a pool with his friend Volodya….
