US cell phones in Uzbekistan!!!

Hi guys,

I am flying to Uzbekistan in 1,5 week, and I was asked to bring a cell phone from US to Uzbekistan, particularly LG Chocolate model.

I was wondering: Does anyone know whether this model works in Uzbekistan. I heard I need to purchase the UNLOCKED one, but still not sure whether it will work there.

Please if anyone had an experience or knows abt. the cell phones, share with your opinon!

People use LG chocolate in Uzbekistan. You must take it to the company (I guess that would be Perfectum Mobile) and they will encode your cell phone. Then you won't have any problems in using it throughout Uzbekistan.

You could check the standards out in the link I provided above. The particular one is LG SV 590 Chocolate, which for sure has to work in Uzbekistan.
I had another brand of cell phone, which was sent to me from the USA and it was locked. I took it to Perfectum Mobile and they encoded it to me without any problems. I think you could buy either locked or unlocked LG chocolate.

First of all you should check what standards of GSM and CDMA are available in Uzbekistan. As far as I know in UZB GSM 900 and 1800 and CDMA-R-MCA models are being used.
