1. Has anybody taken student loan without a co-signer in the US? Is it possible to get loan without the co-signer at all?
2. This question is sort of an off topic in this thread but I don't want to open a separate thread for it. Anyway, I was going to apply for Economic Hardship Program(?) (I-765) but I've recently figured out that I haven't completed 9 months of studies at college. I've finished only two terms at college. Will they accept my application or deny it? If they deny it, can I reapply to it later or not?
Your answers will be appreciated.

One of my friends received a huge student loan without any co-signers. He said he had a good credit history himself and that's why they let him get it. However, not all loans will let you do it, so you have to make some research and see if it's possible in your case...Good luck!
As for Economic Hardship, you better wait a little bit and then apply. What if they reject your application form and you'll waste your time and additional $120 (I beleive it was when I applied)...I am not sure if you can re-apply after you've been rejected. I believe it's possible, you have to double check on their webs-site though. Economic Hardship is really easy to get. I applied and received my EAD I've never used in two weeks. LOL, what a waste!

As I had to cover my last semester in school on my own, I applied for an education loan with my bank. Education loan is the consumer loan and not the student one and therefore I began monthly pay offs right after I received the loan.
Why I got the consumer one? It was less complicated to obtain and did not require a co-signer. They looked at my credit history and monthly income to define my eligibility.
If you are experiencing financial hardship and must pay your tuition, pursue the following options in the order provided:
- Check with your school and international students office if they have any emergency (asisstance) fund;
- Apply for schoalrships (I know it is highly competitive and hard, but still possible. Google AAUW - they provide funds to females from developing countries. Being from patriarchal Uzbekistan and writing a touchy statement - you may well qualify). OSI - is another alternative. If you do a comprehensive research, you'll find more options;
- Apply for a student loan; and last
- Apply for an education (consumer) loan. Although I wouldn't recommend doign that. It is not easy to repay it while you are still in school.
I sincerely wish you a good luck.
PS: When I am rather influential and rich, I will set up a fund for smart Uzbek girls willing to study abroad. Hudo hohlasa.

Hey Unique!
Were you able to get a loan? Please tell me more about your loan, pm me if you don't feel comfortable talking about it on public...
Has anybody taken a Student Loan with Low Interest Rates here in the US? Guys, please share your experiences. So far it looks like 6.8% APR is the lowest one can get...Are there any loans which can go lower than 6.8%?

I've opened this thread, and I can never get to it back somehow.
Anyway, Nezabudka I've checked the AAUW and have found out that they mostly offer grants and awards for graduate students. :(

Usually big private schools give loans without co-signers. so it depends on what kindda school you going to. From schools I have searched in NY area, I found Columbia University gives loan without co-signer. I haven't heard about other sources for loans without co-signer for undergraduate studies. For Graduate programs accessgroup gives out loans without co-signers, but i haven't applied myself through it.
From my expereince, honestly I would suggest you to transfer out from your school if it's hard to afford it. There are several schools in US which welcome international students in terms of financing the school. I made a mistake not searching for these kindda schools on time, and now ended up in o.k school paying my own tuition and other problems. You said you freshman, and that would mean that you can transfer out almost all your classes, you won't lost much. Some public, but mostly private schools give good fin aid for international students. Good Luck!

Hey folks,
I am new to the USA and don't know what kind of actions should be taken to get a loan. Furthermore, "here are several schools in US which welcome international students in terms of financing the school" if anybody knows about this please share with some infos and experiences. Which University or college would you suggest in terms of financing and in gerneral reputation. I am going to take Business Administration. I am a beginner in this area so help please !
Thank you in advance!
