View Full Version : Your favorite places to eat

People, we all eat out -- go to restaraunts, cafes, fast foods and so on and so forth. Yet there are situations when you come to a place to eat and after your dinner/lunch/breakfast, you realise you wasted your money and that restaraunt sucks and that the waiting staff are rude and stuff like that, so I suggest we all share our favorite places to eat -- could be anything -- a chic restaraunt or a street hot-dog booth.

So, go ahead and share your intel -- it's going to be useful.

p.s. Maybe somebody had posted this type of thread before, I don't know, if yes, admins, please merge this thread with the old one.

By the order of liking the most to least:

1. home sweet home
2. Italian places with good pasta
3. Seafood places (the region of San Malo, in France is great for that!)
4. Sushis (again sea food)
5. French refined cuisine
5. "Leon de Bruxelles" with its french fries and mussles

Agua Ardiente is a nice place to eat, but at night time when it becomes a lounge they play crapy music. But for some reason most of my friends love that place...

I, personally, know the chief cook of Sesto Senso and he cooks absolutely amazing food. I've eaten in his house, so I assume he cooks the same way at the restaurant...He mixes Italian cuisines with Latin American dishes and it tastes just "perfecto"...Yummy!

I'm very simple, so I don't really go to very sophisticated places to eat. I like international cuisines, so I eat at Chinese, Indian, Moroccan, Turkish, Pakistani or Mexican restaurants/fast food places. You'd laugh, but I really like Chipotle (lol), their burritos can keep me full for two days in a row:lol:

I love Agua Ardiente especially Friday or Saturday nights... They do salsa and international dance nights... Fun Fun... Plus they do have great food and amazing cocktails. A lot of my friends like it too.

Yeah, Sesto Senso has a really delicious Latin Fusion food. I love it... And it is impressive you know the chef.

I do like sophisticated places but sometimes there is no better place than Chipotle or Cosi's for lunch. I am a huge fan as well...

Also the Ethiopian food in Adams Morgan- cheap but so yummy.... And if you like Moroccan have you been to Casablanca in Old town, Alexandria? One of my favorite places as well. And they have great belly dancers... :)

Yummy! Chipotle is the best!!! I want it right now, do you know if there is any Chipotle places in McPherson Sq or Dupont Circle area?

Yeah, the chef of Sesto is a really good man. He always amazes me with his imagination, he always makes different exotic dishes in a very short period of time...When i cook it takes me hours to finish a very easy dish.

There are lots of Ethiopian restaruants in Silver Spring (since it is a small Ethiopia Town lol). However, I have never tried Ethiopian food. I will definitely try it.

Yeah there is one in Dupont. Off the Dupont Circle Q street exit. Walk towards Circa and keep going straight. You will pass Subway, and ice cream place. It is before Cosi and Potbelly's. Next to the Human Rights Watch shop. If you need further directions let me know. :D Not sure about McPherson Sq.

Does everyone around here works somewhere off the Dupont? I work 30 seconds down the Connecticut, which is like, 50 feet from Dupont. Does anyone know the Starbucks on 18th and Connecticut? So I work in the building right above the Starbucks...

My favorite restaraunt in Tashkent is Al-Delfin, which is right around the corner of the Puma store. For several years in row it didn't count a normal week if my friends and I didn't go to Al-Delfin at least once a week. The food is amazing -- their veal with mushrooms is totally delicious. But people went to Delfin not for food, but for hookah. I think it was the only place in Tashkent where Friday and weekends would be fully packed if you arrived sometime later than 9pm.

And in DC -- burger is certainly Five Guys, real meal is Afgan restaraunt in Alexandria, hookah lounge is the one on U street and just any other time it's Corner Bakery where they do pretty good pasta.

Five Guys - have you heard those weird rumors about this place? They say, Five Guys add some kind of addictive chemicals to their burgers and that's why people get addicted and come there all the time (LMAO, I don't know if it's true though. I think it's just a bull)...

OMG, it's raining cats and dogs out...I'm kind of scared to go out right now...

It's ridiculous that we all work practically at the same spot and didn't run into each other so far. Anyway, here's a suggestion: why don't we all meet up for some lunch some time soon? It could be Chipotle, it could be whatever. Illusion, what do you think? Girlie? I know that Nezabudka is in DC, so she's most welcome to join, too and really, anyone who's around is most welcome to join. It'd be fun.

I think Five Guys would be wiped out from the market if they added anything into their food. Remember, couple of years ago, they said the same thing about McDs? I remember Argumenti i Fakti had a large article on that :) But given recent stories with Chinese toothpaste, pet food and seafood and how FDA managed NOT to notice that, I suppose everything is possible... but still, Five Guys's pretty good -- worth of being poisoned :)

Happy hour sounds even better. Have no idea where Cafe Citron is, but God bless Google Map -- I'll find it. Let's tentatively agree on 5:30, next Thursday or Friday.

Who else is coming? We are pretty flexible on dates and time, so let's come up with time and date that works for everyone.

Sounds like pretty fun so far.

Well, my office is 1301 Connecticut... I am more than positive I've been to the place, though Cafe Citron doesn't ring a bell.

So, deal -- Fri, July 20, 5:30pm, Cafe Citron -- 1343 Conn. Ave, right off the Dupont

Anyone is more than welcome to join us! Friends are welcome, as well!

Universitetni staloviysi ovqat yiyish uchun eng yomon joy. Birinchidan, ovqatlari juda mazasiz, ikkinchidan idish-tovoqlar yaxshi yuvilmaydi, uchinchidan ular kechagi ovqatdan qolgan sabzavotlarni bugungi kungi ovqatga qo'shib taom pishirishadi. No, c'mon, it's not a stupid matchmaking or something, my friend worked in Turkmenistan for two years and he wants to meet somebody from the region and since he's straight, he's more interested in meeting girls, rather than guys. So, it's strictly fun-driven, no-date happy hour.

It would also be quite useful if you guys tell where you are from, state, country, city, so that other users have any idea.

I personally love SUBWAY sandwich shops, they probably could be found all over the states. Their tuna subs are delicious, and fitting also, not to mention that its a healthy substitute to greasy Mc'Donalds or Burger Kings..
Starbucks always has strong rich coffee, lattes, shakes, and good pastries.
