Dear friends,
I am opening this thread to discuss opportunities to achieve Masters of Accountancy mainly in the United States. This shall involve all issues (tuition, ranking, living expenses, courses, location. etc.) in achieving Masters of Accountancy (M.Acc.)
So far I am an undergrad. senior. I am planning to be employed before achieving masters but achieving masters is the plan B, as well. I hope there are some people in this forum who is on the same path.
One advantage of M.Acc., is it prepares the student to sit for a Uniform CPA Examination.
Please post links, information, advice that is relevant to Masters programs, to say the least.
Masud.
I think work experience would better prepare you for the CPA exam than further schooling unless it is required in the state you are living. Check out the requirements in the state you plan to live or work before doing anything else.

BYU MAcc degree is ranked 3rd across the nation. And the tuition is dirt cheap. If anyone needs any help, send me PM. I'm currently there, will be doing my mba in fall 2007.
I have a question - how hard and relevant is it to get cpa after MBA?

BYU is a religious mormon school. I don't care how good their education is.

So does that mean, they teach accounting differently. Afriqo is right, Brigham Young is in top 3. in masters of Accountancy. for graduate students.
The reason to do masters of accountancy is it best prepares you for Uniform CPA.
E.G.
University of Louisville (http://business.louisville.edu/content/view/372/546/)
gives the jist to take the CPA exam and it is fairly straight forward.

That means to complete a degree there you must be Mormon and also take a certain number of religion classes each year. And then I am guessing you will be a happy mormon and stay working in Utah the rest of your life.

BYU recruititing partners list

you think, all those companies are located in Utah?! Of course, not all of those companies come to campus, but the fact that BYU has its graduaes at virtually all those companies tells a lot. Believe me, i was also very surprised to find BYU graduates at Goldman Sachs, Bain capital, Bear Stearns, etc.... In the end of October there will be a trip to NYC, organized by Marriott, where we will meet BYU MBA graduates working on Wall Street.
regarding Big 4 - BYU is only one of few schools, where all of those 4 companies come to campus for interviewing.
Specially for Melo -
1. you don't have to be Mormon in order to get a degree there.
2. there ARE NO religion classes at BYU Marriott school.
3. there are 14 countries represented in MBA 2009 class.
4. it is in fact boring here, but when it comes to the environment, I can't think of any other better places to study, since you can't anything except study. It is like being in the army, but you will grow leaps and bounds very fast.
someone wrote, that Church helps its members find the jobs. Bullshit - Church doesn't have anything to do with business.
the only thing is - it is pretty tough to get in for someone outside of the faith, no matter how qulified applicant is. You have got to show them that you are a good fit, not neccessarily Mormon.

program at a glance -
http://marriottschool.byu.edu/mba/mbaglance.cfm
with the average starting base salary changed from 80k to 87k and gmat from 648 to 681 this year. I bet the school will fight ts claws and nails to enter US top 20 this year, and it just received a HUGE donation from Marriott family and N.Archibald.
Besides, its ROI has been consistently ranked 1 in the US for several years. So far, religion has never been an issue for me. I'm Muslim, but seems like nobody even cares.
BTW, Martingale, remeber me?
You were planning on getting your MBA, right? So how is it going?
