Hey guys. Hope you are all alright.

I just need an opinion of those who has been to or is in New York. I've been to Florida and California in the past but I am residing in England now, and I never had a chance to visit NY while I was in the States, shame!

Is NY really dangerous like people say? Is it really filthy and horrible?

I love America and I love England too. I just can't make up my mind as where to settle down...

NY is not dangerous at all. Almost all tourist areas are very safe.

That being said, some places in NY are filthy and in general the city is horrible! My humble opinion.

Actually some parts of New York really dangerous! I don`t want to scare anyone but I should tel this I think!
Couple years before one of our intern was killed in Brooklyn, he was going home after his internship but decided to check out New York before go home and he was shot!:(

Qo`rmang boravering faqat kechasi ko`chada yurish hafli va bu hamma qismida ham emas New Yorkni ba`zi qismlari shunaqa sal hafliroq! Har kim menimcha odam gavjum joyda va kunduz kuni yursa hech qanday havf yo`q bo`lsa kerak, shu lekin noto`g`ri paytda noto`g`ri joyda(wrong time wrong place midi inglizchasi) bo`lib qolishdan hudo saqlasin!

New York is not any more dangerous than any other city in the US. Actually statistically it is safer than most US cities and they have police everywhere. I personally don't like New York and I agree that it is filthy and smells bad. Maybe if you like England you will also like New York though.

Overall it is not a place I like to go.

НЙк ничем не более криминален чем Чикаго, ЛА или Флорида.
просто не надо провоцировать жителей темных и латиноамериканских кварталов. Нечего там вообще просто так гулять. (Бронкс, Флатбуш, Западный берег манхаттена)

Вы скажите когда хочешь посетить НЙ-к.
Есть несколько русских тур агенств
у них отличные однодневные туры по НЙ-ку. Потомучто жаде жители самого Манхаттена не смогут расказать всего что знает гид.

А так если асмим приехать в НЙ-к то надо посетит Метрополитан музей, Natural History, China Town, Small Italy, Empire State Buil.Бродвей ночью. ну для любителей Opera или пойти на БродвейШоу(сам лично не люблю)
В Бруклине - аквариум, Брайтон, Ботанический сад. В Бронксе Зоопарк. для любителей стадион. В Квинсе - Тандури..

I lived in NY for 14 years, never had any problems. For certain others who complain about dirt and certain odor, those traits can be pretty much associated with any large, metropolitan city, just get over it.

Its a Mekka for the metropolists, ie for those who feel themselves as "a fish in the water" in big and populated cities. So, if you are that kind of person, NY is ideal, I think.

NYC is a great city to shop, visit museums, go out and have fun. As far as being dangerous I think all cities could be. Just be careful and have fun. It is as dangerous as Miami and LA. :D

I guess you are right all cities could be dangerous if you hang around in "wrong" places. London is not as dangerous as Miami or LA, we don't have guns and things, and there are police officers and CCTV cameras everywhere and the city itself is much more organised and cleaner than most American cities.

I like the friendliness and openness of american people. That's probably why I wanna move there. You know what I mean?

I lived in a county side in FL, it was good. I needed space and there was LOTS of space, I could go to the beach and stay their for hours and think.

Whereas in England I don't have time to breathe, leave alone thinking. I think we do need "that" space and privacy to keep our mental health in a good state.

i've been there 3 times. the last with a sister recently. both of us agreed - one cant really live there. visit - fine, but not life in its real sense.

Its a very personal opinion that I was asked about here, as I see.

Nothing wrong with personal opinions, although one might wonder what would cause a person to have such an extreme negativity about the city, especially the "horrible" part which some people living there might perceive as a rude comment. Nonetheless, it is a matter of personal preference: some get to like it, some don't, nothing wrong there.

you are right ...luck of safety, crowd ,busy traffic and polution all major factors to live away from NYC
