BTW, I think you don't have any chance to get into any top 10 MBA. At least, not now.
Because, if you were solid candidate for top 10, you wouldn't have asked questions like "is NY a good place to study" or "Is it better get MBA in Nebraska?" The most weird questions I've ever read.
No offence.

Life in NYC is great,if you can get into ultra elite school,it will be even greater. But like Africa said,I doubt you can get in there,so save yourself the application fees:)

So far, I didn't give you any advice.
Now I am giving you: Don't get discouraged. Set high goals. You are very young. Take a time. Don't rush. Even if you are olimpic medallist or 800 GMAT scorer. Get some real-life and professional experience.
I am sure there will be many people on you way, saying top MBA is not for you. Again, don't get discouraged. And don't ask that kind of questions anywhere else.:D it will ruin our reputation.

IMO, there are no ultra elite schools in NY.There are only 3 all-time ultra elites: H/S/W, with Chicago as near Ultra Elite.

I would refer Columbia as ultra elite as well, there isn't whole lot of difference among them, except of course for campus size:)

Question!
Do you guys pay tuition fees at all? Cause top ten Unis are so expensive...
I study in the Uni and I pay for it myself, to be honest I am sick and tired of studying and working... I want to take a gap year to get a rest.

That is exactly my question, I am in the same situation.I am going to take brake after this semester and just go back to home, and save some money to my M.B.A...

If you get accepted to top schools, you don't need to be worry about tuition. H/S/W offer student loans. Other schools might also. And you don't need to have a american co-signer.
btw, tuition amount is approximatelly the same at all top 50, not only at top 10.

Why do you guys all want to get MBA?
Is it like "Iqtisodchi bulaman" tendency, when few years ago, 90% of uzbek youth applied to economic faculties of uzbek unis?

Wow, comparing Columbia to H/S/W is like comparing Mercedes to Maybach. Both are luxury cars, but there is a huge gap between this 2 groups in terms of brand name and opportunities. Nobody would prefer CBS to HBS. We are talking about MBA programs, right?
Academic side is almost the same at all top 50 schools.

still u have to pay loans back as I know 90 days after graduating(hopefully I'm wrong)...Even if they will give you 10 years, still it's like $100000?
Can you explain what is your point? That will be helpful...

I think comparing Mercedes to Maybach is a little extreme. You are idolizing those three schools, but considering that neither of us attends any of these schools,I think, further discussion of this topic serves no point.

You got bunch of advantage in labor market if you have MBA degree in your profile. The brief explanation would sound as following: you got more chances to get hired to decent Co.s if you have MBA degree, this often means that you will be doing the job you have wanted, not the job you just have found...

Well, most of us don't study at top ten universities, so that means most of us don't have to pay for the tuition more than $1000 per credit...
And also, there are opportunitites not only not to pay for the tuition, but also to get paid by the university ;)
