Dear Dauphin. first of all, I dont understand why you are quoting me and saying that this is BS. All I did is gave alterntive link because people could not view the video as it required the registration.

I am neither the author of the post, nore the author of video.

Secondly, what was he supposed to do given the same circumstances? Whatever any civilized person would have done. There are hundreds of methods of dealing with this kind of situation.

1. Negotiations which clearly were very short and were not satisfactory. Just remember the interview on the day with those so called terrorists
2. Phycological pressure. Bringing the parents of the leaders of uprising who would persuade them to give up
3. Using mob dispencer methods like pepper gases etc.
4. Storming the headquarters of the terrorists, i.e. hokimiyat and NOT the Babur square itself. Blocking it beforehands and moving civillians into the safe areas.
5. If you insist that terrorists were among the mob, then they should have mixed undercover special forces agents who would neutrlise the armed men. their number amongst the mob was very limited, which is aparent from the photos and videos that government itself relised.
6. Whatever action you take, safety of civillians should be THE FIRST AND THE BIGGEST PRIORITY. You dont just shoot people from BTR's.
7. You should not place an information bockade and go on to persecute people after the event, this will put the officials on the wrong side even if they were right.

There are hundreds more methods of how to deal with armed rebellions. Just read the history of IRA and how british government have dealt with them. And dont give me crap here saying that all the witnesses of those accounts were BSing and lieing. Why dont you consider the fact that the person (i.e. Karimov and his gang" have lied to us before on number of occasions. And why do you think that he would not use brutality when he did it before, during the student revolt in early 90's?

I am no expert in authenticity of videos, but i do believe the clips comprising the video and background voices reflect the truth. no actor or a voiceover can replicate that. calling the tragic events' film a BS is ... i can't even find a word. it's amazing how these clips got out... i feel sorry too, even though it is no real help.
