What a coincidence, the other day I was thinking about the volume of money brought in by money transfer companies like Western Union, MoneyGamm and etc. This figure actually, should reflect (with an appropriate determinant) the portion of Uzbek GDP produced by our fellow citizens working abroad – mainly by those «Гастарбайтеры» settled in Russia, UKR, KZ…
And here you are - fresh article from UzReport, delighted with Western Unions’ achievements. This is probably company’s achievement – but certainly not our country’s.
There is not much reason to be proud of, if you just imagine for a moment why our nation leading the list, who are the main clients of their services, how these “clients” earning their money (working conditions, racism, low wages) and finally why they are there, what forced them to leave their families???
