Dear all Bro and Sis I need some clue about Living cost in Tashkent
The info I'm giving you is accurate 80%, for other 20% I can't really say anything.
You can rent an apartment of 3-4 rooms for $400 with all the furniture and other stuff to live, including satellite TV. You may rent a car, like MATIZ, for $300 per month (it may be more expensive now). I knew a person who used to rent a NEXIA for $300 a month. When u rent a car for your own use, not with the intention of making it a taxi, it's cheaper. gas is 0.7cents a liter. (Ai-80)
For six people, you may approximately pay $10-12 for electricity, $15-20 for water (both cold and hot), $10-20 for other payments. For food, you may spend like $400-500 for a month or even more, according to your needs.
If you want to use public transport (which I don't recommend), you may spend $30 a month.
You may have other expenses according to your children's ages, whether they go to school and so on.

Let me tell you real prices, if you want live in nice district such as Darhan, Maksim Gorkiy, Gospitalniy... etc. 2 bedroom 2 bathroom will cost you from 800-1400$ , houses for rent with 3 and more bedroom, will cost you at least 2500-5000 $ for months, than we have bunch of taxes. I come from family where live 6 people, so dad used to pay 300-500$ for water, electricity,( for whole year) of course there are ways to cut them, owner might show you. Grocery shopping will cost you each week around 150 $, cable internet 80 $, My advise to you find nice guide who knows, all hidden ways. Usually people start asking double price if you are from abroad. so be careful. living in tashkent isn't cheap.
P.S. school for you kids will be another problem, because not every school is nice. Later I can post list of nice schools with really good education.
And these prices was 2 years before.

Well I see a two standard here now,but I will take the median price as a benchmark...
And about the school You told it is really a big question for me..coz my children unable to speak or understand Russian language(and me too:D),do they have any english speaking teacher in school?

Hi the information on the first reply is almost 99% true. 500-600$ is enough to cover normal living expenses. And of course it is up to your needs and way of life.
Good luck!

there are 2-3 international schools , where the children of foreign diplomatic missions' staff and other foreign citizens go. One, Ulugbek international school is located near Grand Mir hotel. Another is somewhere around Alayski bazaar.

This morning, my sister told me that $130/week is not enough for nutrition of a family of 3 (mother and 2 lil kids).
it depends what a family prefers to eat. The family of my sister (4 person + grandmothers and grandfather on weekends) spends up to 1500 USD per month and my cousin's family spent up to 250 USD and both are happy. My sister prefers to buy seefood, imported products, cakes and sushis from bars, vines frome airport duty free etc. At the same time there are so many domestic products on the markets that cost much much cheaper, one just need a time to cook. Another aspect, on Alayskiy market prices are almost 25-40 % higher then somewhere in Yunus-Abad or Farhadskiy markets.

It depends on what one spends the money. I spent 3 times more than this but it doesn't say anything.
Second post is of much relevance. People leave in Tash somehow for $100-200 a month. So . . .

remark: that was a busket of food of an average income/consumption family.

yeap, thats what i mean. ko'rpaga qarab oyoq uzatganlar uzoqqa boradi...
hayot shunday narsaki ertaga nima bo'lishini bilmaysan odam.
ohirgi marta toshkentda bo'lganimda og'aynilarim bilan "good-bye drink" (sounds gay but we are not :-D ) anyways, i spent 100- 120 in 5-6 hours only for alcohol consumption and they spent nearly the same amount. but we could ve meet somewhere in choyhona and spend 150 for 2 course meal and drinks...
agar borodino (russian imported bread) ustiga president organic (butter imported form france) surtab uni ustiga qora ikra (zernistaya imported from russia) qo'yib yesa har kuni kamida 100-150 baks ketadi qulog'ini ushlab...
men bilgan odamlar (3-4 kishidan iborat oila) oyiga 200-250 ishlatishadi. demak ilojisi bor...
PS: agar uydagi ovqat jonga tegsa restoranga emas mehmonga borish kerak...

I have DSL, 2 GB, 512KB speed and I pay 35 bucks a month.
About the 150 bucks each week for the grocery totally depends on so many factors.
To the thread starter: I recommend you the Tashkent International School. It is an expensive school but a lot of foreign kids go there. We have Ulugbek International School as well, but I 'd stick with Tashkent International School.
