Time: 10:00am - 6:00pm
Location: Mason Neck State Park
Street: 7301 HIGH POINT RD
City/Town: Lorton, VA
This is an outdoor picnic for DC area Uzbeks and their friends as well as Uzbeks from other states. It is the first get together in the area since last year's New Year party.
Mason Neck State Park has a lot to offer. It is located at the bay, there is a nice field where sports activities can be held (bring a ball or badminton gear), several charcoal grills, a large playground for children. It is located inside a nice forest inhabited by different animals.
We hope to have a large crowd - at least 50 people.
We will need a few volunteers who should be there around 9:00-9:30 to help with the set up.
We will have burgers, hot-dogs, chicken, soft drinks, chips and other food. If you woud like to bring food with you - Uzbek or other - YOU ARE WELCOME and even encouraged. Some families coming to Picnic will cook uzbek food and pasteries and make homemade salads as well.
If anybody is good at making SHASHLYK - KABOB, let's communicate about this.
The costs are 15 dollars per person and 25 dollars per a family to be paid at the spot to Kamoliddin Hamzayev or Odil Ruzaliev.
To get to the park you need to have a car or come with someone who is driving. The closest metro station is Franconia-Springfield on the blue line, but even from the station it is about a 15 minute drive.
This site has a detailed information about the park
http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/mas.shtml
Entrance to the park is 2-3 dollars and there is a parking space near the picnic area. To get to the picnic area you need to drive all the way inside through the forest.
Let all your Uzbek friends from the area who are not in this group know about the picnic and encourage them to come. It is a good opportunity to meet new people.
Bring playing cards, a guitar or any other tools that will help everyone have fun.
NO ALCOHOL at the park premises.
We would love to see people from the NY area as well. If we have enough people on both sides interested in playing football, we can have a friendly match.
PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO RSVP FOR PLANNING PURPOSES
