Assalomu Alaykum dear brothers and sisters!

I'm looking for some ideas and info regarding a pizza restaraunts in Tashkent. Actually, I'm hoping to start a new restaraunt business in Tashkent, but I do not have too much info regarding this types of businesses in our capital. Do you know how much usually restaraunts like Mirs charge for pizza?! and info regarding a general acceptance of pizza food by local people?! I greatly appreciate any open ideas or suggestions and information!

I suggest you go to different restaurants yourself to see the prices, restaurants, and how many people there are. Nothing could be better than seeing for yourself.

I know it takes a great effort to start such business, and right now I'm trying to learn as much as possible regarding to make a tasteful pizza and mean time trying to collect as much info as possible:)... and when I go back, I'm definietly hoping to check out some of the restaraunts....

I think in tashkent reputation of pizza as a food is not the best. This is because there are a lot of corner-restaurants that make it, and they don't do it properly.

besides making it must be relatively more expensive than traditional food, and after a few times our people will understand that it's junk food and that our food is healthier.

the point i'm trying to make: if someone wants to make pizza it must be genuinely good to find it's market. it must be properly marketed (it's not cheap). making geniunely also means that you must have experience, with a just an idea and a few recipes it will become another corner-restaurant microwave stuff which has little chance to be accepted.

in my xumble opinion :D

the first problem which potentially will arise is the problem of ingredients for your pizza. Mozzarella cheese and quality flour...cheese is what makes pizza pizza as i was told before....

As you probably know, prices depend on types of pizzas you'll be trying to sell. Thin crust, thick crust, toppings offered, delivery (if available)?

For example, a large Margarita pizza costs me about 17,000 soums (incl. delivery).

Good luck.

There are several pizza restaraunts listed in www.live.uz. You may want to check prices in their menu.
From my personal experience pizza quality in Pizzeria Bella Napoli and Il Perfetto is below the ones in average Italian cafe in Bonn. Although both claim that their chefs are from Italy.

Pizza Hut isn't even a restaraunt, it is typical american cafe for fat lunch with Cola :) Something similar to chineese Wokin. Anyway, PH is overcrowded on Saturdays.

Thank you soo much for all your great ideas guys... you've been all really helpful! I do expect that it is gonna require pretty big sum of finance, and that's why before I take any further step I need to make sure that it is worth of something... Honestly, I haven't started working for any pizza place yet, but shortly I'm planning to start with pizza hut cuz my intention is if possible to make a buffet style restraraunt... probably like $6.99 all you can eat buffet or something like that:)... As I've mentioned it is gonna take lots of investment of time and money, cuz right now I have to give up my much higher pay salary job in order to start with pizzaria...

I see there some great books reagrding this business such as
How to Open a Financially Successful Pizza & Sub Restaurant ... As you guys see, hopefully if works out well, this is gonna be a pretty big project for me... again thanks a lot for sharing your ideas and suggestions!

Thank Oyaji! I will definietly keep that in mine... I understand that it is probably gonna end up costing more expensive than other traditional Uzbek food, but I will surely concentrate a lot on quality of the place, food and the service... Also, I do have some other ideas regarding good marketing strategy and additional products which I'm sure will help with driving more customers in!

yes, cheese is my another concern... I know that I'm gonna be able to find a cheese, but the part which worries me is a cost, and indeed cheese and good sauce what make pizza "pizza"!

Sauce should not be a problem and very cheap. Tomatoes are good and cheap and every spice you would need is available.

Not yet, but unfortunately that's what I'm thinking about... I'm thinking more about pizza hut than a papa johns... Right now, I'm also looking for some good local buffet style pizza restaraunts...

I know that places like papa johns or pizza hut are considered pretty much unhealthy junk food chain restaraunts in this society, but I believe overseas (possibly in Uzbekistan) similar restaraunts probably gonna be viewed maybe not upper scale but possibly middle upper scale restaraunts... If we think about McDonalds chain in US it is sort of yukki :disapp:, but at most overseas countries it is considered pretty cool place to grab a bite:)!

I would pay attention mostly to quality of the pizza, competitive pricing, and big one marketing. Earn the loyalty of your customers first by whatever it costs, eventually you can establish your brand, it will take a lot of effort though, a lot.
