Bottles, bottles, everywhere

It's ironic. In many parts of the world, there is no clean drinking water. Here in the U.S., pure, drinkable water flows out of every tap, and yet Americans buy a staggering amount of bottled water. We pay big bucks for it, too — more than $15 billion a year
Better yet, carry tap water
More than a quarter of bottled water is just processed tap water, including Pepsi's Aquafina and Coca-Cola's Dasani. Despite this, bottled water consumption is growing at 10 percent a year, faster than any other beverage. We drink 15 times more bottled water today than we did in 1976.
If you buy bottled water, recycle the bottle. But the better solution — for you and the environment — is to drink tap water, both at home and at restaurants:
Tap water is cleaner than most bottled water.
Tap water is delivered to homes and offices for $0.002 a gallon. Bottled water, which can cost as much per gallon as gasoline, is a thousand times more expensive.
The quality of municipal water in the U.S. is generally excellent. Don’t let the recent reports about pharmaceuticals in tap water deter you — see this TreeHugger post for why.

It is true though,I mean do you honestly think that EPA would permit tap water to flow around if it wasn't treated properly?
I don't see anything wrong with using tap water, yes it doesn't have the sticker "Avian" or "Fiji" on it,but its the same H2O ;)

I think majority of us still have that thought in mind that we were told throughout childhood "Tap water is not good water. Boild and then drink". but, after this article, I will definitely stop buying. Help my pocket and in issue with global warming :D

You know one of my friends is still outraged that I just grab a glass, fill it with cold tap water and drink it :lool:
she still boils the water, cools it and then drinks it...
I mean I understand doing that in TM (or UZB) but here?:D

don't drink tap water! it is NOT clean! you better buy water filtration system and then drink from tap water. Though some areas may provide cleanest (soft) water and some dirty (hard) water. for example in UK, northern parts of UK(Scotland etc.) are the areas with soft water supply while southern counties are supplied with hard water which must be filtered before consumption at home.
those bottled waters are not clean too if you paid attention carefully.

actually if you do use water filtration then water does taste more soft (im guessing absense of chlorine and fluorine molecules)
never tried dionized water maybe its tasteless as well?:D

Yes tap water is healthier! BUT depending on the country. I mean the tap water in Uzbekistan is horrible! But in Austria the tap water is great and even tastes good. :D

I don't think "Austria" and "Uzbekistan" is good enough. Tap water in all urban areas is dangerous. Tap water in areas close to uncontaminated sources of freshwater is always good.

Here is a little reading for you.
Drink tap water in Vienna
Vienna's tap water comes from sources in the Austrian Alps. Emperor Francis Joseph built a pipeline to satisfy the Viennese increasing need for clean drinking water 150 years ago when the city grew fast.
In each and every household in Vienna you can drink the water from the tap. And not only can you drink it but receive a drinking water with an unusual high degree of purity.
High quality tap water in Vienna
The public drinking water is coming from sources from the alps' foothills in Styria and Lower Austria; former Austrian emperor Francis Joseph let build a pipesystem which lets the water run downhill all the way to Vienna without a single pump, until today.
Especially at this time of the year most Viennese groan under the heat and Vienna's tap water is the ideal thirst satisfaction.

Maroon, your reading isn't saying anything new from what I said: water is good if it is taken from uncontaminated freshwater sources. Vienna might be an exception, most urban centers use treated water. Tashkent is an example of it, but when it comes to taste and purity your austrian waters are nothing compared to the water of my village. Thank you though.

I drink bottled water-it is very cheap and it is very easy just to grab the bottle when you are on the run.
And I use the tap water for cooking and doing dishes, yet I have a filter installed which makes the water TASTE good and supposedly cleans it.

we hardly ever buy a bottled water. I drink tap water all the time. I fill up my bottles at home before I travel on a long journey. It saves me money and the water in Yorkshire is drinkable from the tap. Even at Universities, we have seperate taps in front/enterance room of public toilets to fill up the bottles and students/staff actually drink from those taps.
I think Yorkshiremen are too stingy to buy a bottle water:lol:

Surely, even if it is not that clean, it can not possibly be a more dangerous for your liver than say an alcohol that people drink quite happily.
ps: this is in no way supposed to mean drink tap water no matter what(!) Just something to think about

Hayot - bakteriyalar, har xil mikroorganizmlar bilan kontakt.
Ming sterillaganingiz bilan tanamizda va ichimizda millionlab o'zimizga hos bakteria va organizmlar yashaydi. Keyingi paytlarda odamlar juda kasallikka chalinuvchan bo'lib qolyapti ekan, hamma narsani ximikatlar bilan tozalayverib.
yaqinda o'qigandim shuni.
Qaynatilmagan suv ichmay yurgan odam bir ichsa darrov tomog'i yallig'lanadi. ichib yurgan odamda unaqa bo'midi.
London meri restoranlarda tap water offer qilishsin deb qaror qabul qilgandi.
Depending on where you livethe water is of different standards. I am sure you could easily research the cleanliness of your drinking water on the internet.
I do agree bottled water is not a good answer unless you livein a very bad drinking water area. For example where I live they bottle our tap water and sell it as bottled water around the US. Seems funny to me that people would pay to get the same water they could get for almost free.
Also children should generally drink tap water in the US, because it is flourinated. The protection it adds to teeth is very important. Bottled and filtered waters will not have flouride in it.

It depends on the region. For instance, water tasted different in Bostonliq/Gazalkent. I don't like it there.
