This is to help out a colleague of mine whose husband wants to invest in the IT business in UZB.

She asked me how things were going there and, frankly, I had no clue.

Therefore, would appreciate any hints, valuable info, contacts and etc. of IT companies in Tashkent.

Thank you.

Things are very bad :)

Though, it depends on which exact sphere he's going to invest, because IT is a wide sphere. If he's going to go for eCommerce, there's not legal guarantee for this. It's not well regulated by legal norms and one day you may expect next stupid law which will make impossible to carry on this business anymore(like in late 90s in Russia), you never know what's gonna happen tomorrow.

If it comes to different web-projects, for longterm investment this is fine I think, but still, we don't have much Internet users in Uzbekistan. Maybe after some 5-10 years this busines will start bringing some profit...

If he's going to open an ISP, this won't do again, too late =)

The best option is to start mind-hunting. There are many brilliant guys - web developers, software developers and so on. It's better invest to such small groups of people and make them work for Europe/USA. There are great offers and they pay good money.

Btw, noodles, you were the first who came to my mind. And I actually told them I could connect you guys.

I have no clue what he wants to do, but his wife mentioned "private IT companies".

Anyways, if she pursues the issue, I will give her your em, if you dont mind of course.

Thank you.
