I work for Big 4 in tax. It's interesting and good starting career job. Training you get at BIg 4 is uncomparable to other places. You're expected to work longer hours in busy season but it's pretty much same in all cpa firms. You don't really need masters if you have BS in Accounting.

hmm bro deng? sis deb qo'ymoqchidimku.....
I never saw job requirements which states "Only certain university graduates are qualified to the position" I would agree and understand that master degree holders would easily move up to a higher position comparing to bachelor degree holders. I was asking if having masters in accounting would make a huge difference in paycheck comparing to bachelors:)
anyways, I got an answer to my question. thanks

I would say, even if you have graduated from a crappy school, if you have experience of at least 3-4 years and good recommendations, then the doors are always open. I don't see any point in getting a MS in Accounting, unless you need to move up in the company, where sometimes people move up even without Masters Degree, and of course, depending on company's rules and regulations, it might affect you paycheck significantly.

not such a big difference in salaries. almost the same.;)
agree with Africa. big 4 pays low in the first years. but the more you stay with a firm, the higher your paycheck and if you stay with the firm, maybe ine day you will become a partner. who knows?:)
55k a year for the first year staff is of course lower than what finance jobs pay, but hey, it's better than nothing.:P But everything comes by time and experience. so eventually it pays good if you stay longer.;) But most people leave big 4, as they get much better offers from the industry (cfo or controller jobs)
but still accounting is considered as second highest paying professional job after investment banking. due to credit bubble and mortgage crisis, most banks are experiencing hiring freeze. and there are so many job cuts going on at most banks.
advantages of big 4:
- all four of them are in top 5 or 10 companies, who sponsor h1b and green card holders.
- the experience you get at big 4 and networking is priceless.
- maybe the salary is less than finance jobs, but you will work 40 hours except for a busy season. weekends go fishing, enjoy your life, take your kids to fotball games and get drunk:lol:
- lots and lots of perks. one of the best in america. if im wrong, qupte me on that.
etc.
Unless you got an offer at big investment banking firms, go with big 4. Trust me, you wont regret! (Now I sound like I am selling their brand:lol:)
