I've been somewhat following an interesting development in recent years in the USA.

Water rights - seems like water and clean air will be the hottest commodity in the future. Some of wealthy people are buying up water rights in the USA. A bottle of water costs as much as a gallon of gasolline.

Recently, USA governemt is attempting to obtain control of water rights through out USA.

I wander who owns Baikal? It may sound stupid, but given current situation in Russia, I think that a private individual could obtain rights to water in the lake. In any case, this development is quite interesting. Uzbekistan never had enough water, and I wish that Krushev's plan of diverging rivers from Siberia would have taken place.

So, what is next? Thirsty people paying tons of money just to satisfy their thirst.

Image is nothing. Thirst is everything.

I wander if anyone else have heard anything about this?

I have also heard that in US farmers pay for water they use. In return they are assured that they will get water at right time in right place. It may seem to be foolish to pay for water, but on one hand people are making money out of it. On the other hand people will use it efficiently, because waste of water for the provider would be the waste of money, for the farmer obviuosly it cost money. This kind of trend in Middle East also can be seen. Experts say that in near future a barrel of water may cost more than a barrel of oil in this region. And one of the main obstacles in peace talks between Syria and Israel is also the water resources of the sea Galilee. And in our region also recently Kirgiz government raised this issue to international level by demanding Tashkent to pay for the waters of Syrdaryo, which originally starts from Kirgiz territory. But this led to little confusion because this is completely new issue for international law. No nation has made such claim yet apart from Bishkek, and no one knows how to fix the price of water.Indeed water might cost us money, but I personally don't like this idea. Country like Uzbekistan which heavily relies on agriculture specifically on cotton, consumes too much water. Obviously,we don't benefit from this idea.Agar san uni parvarish qilib, chekanka qilib ,saratonda qizib chopiq qilib keyin uni qishgacha qulda tergan bulsang pul surasang arziydi,ha end bu toza surbetlik-de endi...
