Uzbek-French Roundtable On Development Of Modern Islam

Some aspects of the development of contemporary Islam, such as the evolution and study of the spiritual heritage of outstanding scholars of Central Asia were discussed at a recent roundtable in Tashkent organized by the French Embassy and the French Institute for Central Asian research (FICAR). “The aim of this roundtable, held in the framework of the program “Central Asia in the renewal of Islamic heritage”, is the promotion of cooperation of French specialists with their colleagues in the region,” noted Vincent Furneau, director of the Institute.
French scholars are very interested in this region because of its importance in the development of science, culture and society in the past and present.
