When Lillehammer in Norway hosted the Winter Olympics in 1994, a girl from Uzbekistan won a gold medal skiing free style jumping! Just after the competition we heard som terrible news of her. ( Several of my friends worked at the press center) I felt so sorry for her, and still do after so many years. Are there anyone in her homecountry who still remember her, or know where she is? She is still remembered in Norway. Her name is LINA TSJERVASOVA.

As I know that day when she won a gold medal her mother was dead. She immediately returns back to Tashkent. After some months chairman of the Olympic committee Samaranch came to Uzbekistan and gave her a medal. Then she participated in some competition and in Canada, I cannot remember when, she made a terrible mistake, when she jumps, she fall down and broke her knee. She was for several months in hospital in Moscow, after treatments she stopped participating at any games. Right now she is in Russia, in Novosibirsk (Siberia). She open there a freestyle school and working there as a coach and director. That’s all what I know about her.

As far as I remember, she had a much serious accident - something related with her spine... Because I met her at the NBU Camp in Chimghan Mountains in summer of 99. She told me she had a long rehabilitation and she almost got paralized. She actually returned to sport after the injury - but without much success.
I think she must be somewhere in Russia now

Thank you very much! Back in 1994 I supported Lina in the final ( I`m nowegian with family traces to Uzb), and I could not believe my luck when the judges vote for her, and not the norwegian or american girl! Once again thank you (katta rahmat) If anyone sees her, say hello to her from Norway!
