People say this illness has originated from pigs, which were being fed with waste from restaurants. But I have no clue how it spreads.

There is no foot-and-mouth disease in Uzbekistan and this is the only country in Central Asia which is allocating money for the purpose of vaccination, Uzbek television reported on 26 March.
In an interview given to the television, Ruslan Ten, identified by the caption as the head of a department for infectious diseases of the main state directorate for veterinary services said: "Uzbekistan is the only country in Central Asia which is allocating money for buying vaccines. The situation in the neighbouring states is very strained. There are regular outbreaks in the neighbouring states of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. At present there are 799 teams with about 4,000 vets involved in vaccination work. I would like to stress that we are not vaccinating all cattle. Only cattle in regions which are close to the neighbouring states are being vaccinated."
Vets visit houses, farms and vaccinate the cattle free-of-charge, the television said. The report also called upon people to be vigilant and to ask for the relevant medical certificates when buying meat products.
"Some 90,000 cattle and about 60,000 sheep are being vaccinated in the republic," the television reported.
(Video shows Reuters' pictures of cattle being destroyed, experts disinfecting cars crossing Uzbek customs border post, vets vaccinating cattle.)

hey, where are our biologists or genetic engineers? What do they think about it?
there is no vaccination policy in uk due to the unability to sell that meat after
that is why all the animals are simply burned , which is simply equal to the vaccination, no costs, just losses
i do not know what the guys from uzb are thinking about

I heard that vaccination in fact is very inefficient because the virus mutates very easily (ie, changes its features), which is why vaccination in UK has not even been looked at as a choice.
Once the cattle are imune against one type of the virus, they are not protected from the others.
