Hey jake,
Thanks for your reply.
I am chinese from Singapore. Wonder if it is easy to travel around Ubz without knowing the local languages. I speak good English.
I have been on some of the silk routes towns like Turpan, Dunhuang, Kasgar, Tushkurgan and such. Heard Ubz is quite historically rich in relation with the silk road 'culture'. Anything particularly interesting?
Thanks

Be careful when you are i n Uzbekistan.
Without a friend it is too difficult to communicate, English is not a widely spoken language. Better to be with a local friend

Are there many tourist in Uzbekistan? I suppose the safest way to travel in Uzbekistan is via the tourist agencies. Any better know agents? I was also told that Fergana Valley is not so accessible for tourist. Why is it so?
Thanks
have you enouth money for 'the safest way'?
Hey Sane,
when are you planning on going - I'll be going to
UZ and Fergana in SEP -
it's not so scary as some people will have you
believe - but do your research and read up on it -the sites are magical and the people are incredible -
have you been to Urumqi -

Hi Ing,
Yeah. Have been doing some reading on Uzbek. I understand from a travel agent that it could be difficult to get to Fergana at this moment because of some insurgencies. Yes. I have been to Urumqi. Friendly people and relatively easy to move around by one self. Have also been to silk road cities like Kashgar, Turfan, etc. Pretty safe. Still working out my plan to visit Uzbek this Sept. Thanks.
Let me know how your plans are coming,
maybe you can drive down to Fergana with
us - but I'm not promising anything - just
let me know when your travel itinerary is
firm, okay
