Dear Umid World upgraders,
I am very surprised with your persistancy, and truly glad you have different topics to talk and discuss about.
When I saw your poll about the performance of ACTR/ACCELS I said "this is a brilliant idea", and now I see your new poll about the future President of Uzbekistan.
Although, I like this topic I want to ask some questions about it.
I know, these are not the real elections, but still your poll narrows the topic to a specific one. May I ask why did you put names of such people like M. Salih and T. Yo'ldosh? I heard they were in so-called "wanted" list and are been searched by our state, besides as far as I know, they don't have legal (legitimate) parties in our Oliy Majlis, and after all they have not lived at least 10 years within the territory of the present Uzbekistan prior to the elections? I know a little bit about "The law about the President of RU" and these are only some of the facts I brought to your attention.
Since your site is generally visited by Umid scholars, it is a good idea to see what our generation, scholars of this organization think about the future.
Do you really think that M. Salih and T. Yo'ldosh may run for presidency durring new elections?
( I wrote this in English, so that non-native speakers can contribute some.)
Thanks.

Akmal,
As vote doesn't say 'who is gonna be the president..' but 'whom you want to be the president...', some voters might want M. Solih or T. Yo'ldosh to go for as a president..., guess they were included to get others' opinion on that.
Chee)s
Akmal is right, I was also surprised to find names of Tohir Yoldosh and Muhammad Solih in the poll. The fact that this poll is just what we Umid students think about the future is very good. However, I don't think inclusion of those two names would be right enough.
Thanks.

Salom hammaga,
First of all i think it was not a good idea to vote on this topic. There are some reasons for that. The first and foremost important one is that even if we want a particular candidate to be a president we have to know their program and things like that. The bottom line is that without any particular reasons to vote for someone is kinda wierd even if he is a good leader or politician. I suggest to change the topic for something else like the things related to economy.
Take it easy guys. Regards

I don't agree with VIP's point. Voting on that topic may well be the one that he doesn't like, but there are such things as majority in Umid World. Since people started voting on that issue, that shows their interest in it. Nobody is forcing anyone to vote. If you don't like it, wait for the next poll:)
Concerning the relevance of topic. Why would people think that the only stuff that matters is econ.?

Hi Umidies,
If we really add the candidates, for future president elections, of M.Salih,A.Polat and T.Yo'ldash it is a really nice idea. Because, then we know who the real leader of our nationis. As you can find from the opposition parties' web-site, thet always criticize our government, and they think they are the leaders of the nation and they win the elections, if they put their candidates. If it is so, if it is true, let them put their candidates, let them to use thier chances, let them to show what they can do...
But, I tell you frankly, that they never gonna win any of these elections. Because our nation knows who is who, and what they can and/or cannot do.
'Urushdan(saylov) keyin qahramon(kandidatlar) ko'payadi' deyishadi dono halqimiz.
Hurmat bilan,

I don't agree with VIP that the idea of the vote was wrong, I don't think it was. This is a kinda participation, a way to express your ideas. As it comes to Samarkand, this poll is not gonna reflect the true intentions of majority, it's gonna reflect the opinions of those who have an access to the web and who are familiar with this web site. Since the majority visiting this site (generally) are Umidies, then you can predict pretty much. It is right that there are (ALSO) othre topics than economy and ecology :(.
Here is a question On what basis did "upgraders" decide to put names of those people? On being famous, being politically strong?
Thanks

Salom Akmal,
You asked why the Umidies put their names in poll. Because, we are pluralists...
O.K., I don't have right to speak on behalf of all Umidies. But the following points are my personal opinions
Firstly, we must respect different ideas and opinions. We used to blame all of those opposition parties and we hate them but why? One may say, because they bombed our capital, they invaded into Southern Kirgizistan...but do we have reasonable grounds that they did all of these crimes? I'd say 'No', because I don't believe our 'independent media press'.
Our media never criticize the situation, they never write the real life of our life...
What I'm trying to say is that, let them (opposition parties) what they want to say to our government, let them come in and work together. When you read web-site of Birlik (www.birlik.net)party, some of their paper reforms are really worth, and we must consider them. You will see, that the visit of USA State Secretary during this month will change the many things towards democracy. But, do not think that I'm Birlik, or Erk, or any other opposition member. I just love my country,my nation, and I really appreciate our Presidents initiatives that, thanks to him thousands of young people, like me, are studying in the developed countries of the world. And I want my country to face to the world as a real democratic state and to be popular with good memories.
Thanks for understanding me,
Samarqand

Dear Samarqand,
I totally agree with you on that we need to value different opinions and give credits for good ones, I'm totally there with you on that. When it comes to those opposition leaders, I have differernt opinions about them. I can't figure out their true intention, all they post on their web site and write about is critisizing what our current government does.
Well, critisizing is an easy stuff. But it does not mean that we should not critisize, I mean that we need to go beyond of that, to real actions.
Now, have you heard about the meeting of our government officials with the opposition in 1994? In Washington DC our ambassador, the minister of Justice (Alisher Mardiyev) met with M. Salih, Abdumannof and Abdurahim Po'lat, and tried to talk to them and listen to what they wanted. You know, that discussion went nowhere because from the very beginning to the end M. Salih and Abdurahim Po'lat kept on arguing and critizing each other, discussing past topics. That meeting showed how weak these people were, that power (authority) meant more to them than problems of their nation.
Now how can I believe what they say is true after that? Oh, I can say biiiiiiig words, and at the same time really mean nothing.
Sorry for too long message.

Salom bollar,
I think i did not clearly state my idea or opinion. the thing i was saying in my earlier message is not about whether we should vote or not but more about why we should vote for particular candidates or on waht basis we should give our vote for them if we do not know what they wanna do for us if they become a president. Sorry for creating confusion with my unclear message. Quest. welcome.
Regards.

Hi Akmal and every body,
I think, the things that we are discussing here do not solve anything at all. But don't think that I can't answer to your reply, but just it is useless. Anyway, we will see what is gonna happen in real life, because we can't do anything right now, except to learn and study them in theory in books.

What we'll do with POORNEES developping day by day? What is the economic solution? What is the political solution? Does-it depend of our President? If he is ideal what he must do? The same for the democracy.
On se tait, on se tait , mais il faut en parler un jour!! il faut réagir quand même, nous somme tous patriote!!!!

Dear Sharl or D'arthanyan or who ever he/she is,
Hitler kaput. Thanks. Wow, impressed.
I started in English because that could involve other non-uzbek speakers to our topic, not for any other reason. I did not understand your message (obviously), you know, it happened to me that I was born not knowing French, so I am sorry for that.
I don't remember, but somebody told that this discussion is not gonna lead to anywhere. I think it's a wrong idea. We are not the policy makers (now), and our policy does not depend on our discussions here, but that is not the reason to stop the discussion and say "let's see what time is gonna show". Well. time is gonna show what it's gonna show, but don't forget that we are "the will" tense of our nation.
Do you remember jadids? Don't they kind of remind you of something? The ideas they had were finally implemented to some degree, but they did not refer to time, they referred to their own actions.
The information I want to share here with you guys, if eventually going to turn to the KNOWLEDGE, and knowledge lets you make good and sound decisions. I do appreciate your concern and taking seriously the topic, cus it's not just for the sake of talking, but for the sake of learning. So, please, don't try to stop something developing.
Here is a question to think about
Why do you think R. Azimov got the most votes on the poll?
Share your ideas.
Thanks.

Hurmatli o'quvchilar va Akmal,
R.Azimovning bu pollda eng ko'p ovoz olishining sababi turlichadir.Masalan
1. Ko'pchiligimiz hali Karimovdan boshqa 'popular figure'ni yahshi tanimaymiz va shu sababli balki Azimovni tanlagandir.
2. R.Azimov ministerlarning orasida eng yoshlaridan biri, chetda o'qib kelgan, juda talantli inson.
3. R.Azimov yurtimizning ekonomikasini juda yahshi biladigan va shu sababli Milliy Bankni juda tez orada kuchli potentsialli bankka aylantirdi.
Va boshqa sabablar ham ta'sir qilgan bo'lishi mumkin.
Hurmat bilan
Samarqand
Hi,
I just wanted to clarify about the recent history of that poll. The idea was posted by Odil, but somehow there were not many replies. Maybe because of its being in Main board not here. Then we tried to find a new Poll question after ACCELS. Some ppl said that the question regarding presidency is not urgent right now, so we have to find other questions. We tried to form a question about currency convertibility...
BUT two things happened First, Message Board script made some error and messages were deleted. Second, new Uzbek version of Umid World was ready. And new version had to have new poll question, and MegaZ put question about Presidency since no other option was available...
PS. I didn't understand the message of Lille on line in French and translated using altavista to English. Here is the copy of that message for ppl who do not understand French
"As I peus not to write usually in English nevertheless I would like given my opinion on this subject, then controlling them of today what did they make for the women? If it were the opposition what they will make? Or well on the human right? Nothing, absolutely nothing the whole, then, I hold has to say some share to you I am ashamed of my country when my friends start to ask me on democracy etc. I would like to still know the efforts of our president in the field of human right, when I speak on the human right they are not only the political rights but the economic situation of the people, the OUZBEKS of course. In the situation like-that to study the right that engoisse me. What will we make PAUVRAITE which increases day per day? What we'll do with POORNEES developping day by day? What is the economic solution? What is the political solution? Does-it depend of our President? If he is ideal what he must do? The same for the democracy. One keep silent oneself, one keep silent oneself, but it is necessary to speak one day about it!! it is necessary to react nevertheless, summons us all patriot!!!! "
