About books

Dear Umidies,

What if we ask companies like UPS, FedEx and others to help deliver (for free) books to Uzbekistan?
To do so we will have to have "Umid" fund and the Ministry for Higher Education write a request-letter
regarding the books. After reading such a letter delivering companies will see that it is about
helping Uzbek nation. Who knows, may they will deliver for us.

Don't forget that you are dealing with capitalists here. Nobody cares about Uzbek Nation. And I know if even you ask(although I reckon this a self-humiliation), they are not gonna do it for free.Just imagine, how many of people like us are out there. I apologize for using anonimizer, but I want to share my opinion and be assured that I will get busted for saying this.

Webmasters, I think you should keep the anonymizer.com be still accessible to the Umidies and not set a cenzorship here. Some people prefer to remain anonymous and speak freely.

I reply

First of all we signed contract with Umid foundation and should be treated as equal parties. We did not agree to establish a library and contribute our books. Besides as part of the agreement, book money is same thing as a stipend. What if Umid demands to return all the extra money that we have in our bank accounts? That is the same thing as demanding to return books. It's the private property of Umid scholars. As to establishing library, if anyone volunteers, it's great for them
Besides we are not just getting free education. My peers at the university have jobs with $35-40K salary, whereas we will be working for $10-15/month. I understand that without the Umid foundation we would not be able to get such education, but nevertheless the government decided that it wants such program, and here we are studying abroad.

So you say we should be guilty that we are having fun, that everytime we go to party we should feel like robbing the country, when we buy clothes, we have to be guilty that people in our country are suffering? Do you also mean that we should be guilty that we are here and consuming $25K of Uzbek nations money each? Do you think that we should exploit our selves till we get stressed and worn out?

UMIDIES, REMEMBER THAT OUR GOVERNMENT VOLUNTARELY CHOSE TO START UMID FOUNDATION. WE HAVE TO BE PROUND THAT WE ARE HERE AND THAT WE DESERVED IT. PEOPLE LIKE MrX GET SOME SELF-ESTEEM AND RESPECT YOURSELF, DON'T FOLLOW WHATEVER YOU ARE TOLD TO DO LIKE A GOAT. IF WE ARE HERE IN UK, USA, GERMANY, FRANCE, ITALY AND JAPAN THAT MEANS GOVERNMENT NEEDS US, NOT THAT WE NEED THE GOVERNMENT. WE ALL COULD STUDY WHERE WE WERE STUDYING BEFORE WHETHER THAT WAS TSEU, UWED, FBR OR OTHER PLACE AND MAY BE WE COULD ALSO REACH THAT SUCCESS. BUT OUR GOVERNMENT NEEDED US - THAT'S WHY WE ARE HERE

The Ministry for Higher Education and "Umid" Fund will need to send the request-letters to Uzbek airlines, Uzbek embassy, and as well U.S. universities asking to donate books for purely educational purposes.
